Taking time to reflect on 10 years in the game – with some of our finest achievements
Firstly, thank you.
While we are enjoying the celebrations that naturally come our way this year to mark our anniversary of a decade of existence, it’s only possible because of the support of our great clients.
Retaining more than 150 clients across 30 industry sectors doesn’t come without hard work and a great team spirit. That’s why we feel it fitting to mark this milestone with some of our proudest characteristics.
Our company story is something we are immensely proud of and here are 10 things we feel make us truly special.
An award-winning pedigree
The best way we can measure success in our business is through impact. Generating leads and raising brand awareness for our clients is the aim of the game – but external validation is nice too; it’s the icing on the cake and shows we stack up well against our competitors. Over the past decade, we are proud to have scooped 27 industry awards from 12 different awarding bodies. The jewel in the crown of these awards is the Vega award for a new website for the internationally recognised JCB. Managing Director Paul Smith said: “This is based on results and the quality of work of the whole team; it’s very humbling.” Read more about some of our successes here.
Working with local and national brands
Our experience knows very few limitations. We have worked with organisations of all different sizes across a wide range of sectors. We have always been curious when selecting which new business to compete for, keen to understand how we can add value. Although we have worked with a number of recognised brands, this is not always where we have the most joy. For us, a great partnership is about understanding our client’s objectives and meeting these within the timescales and budgets outlined. One of our real success stories is Neal Construction. They came to us as a man and a wheelbarrow and now operate as two substantial companies. “Since launch, I can say that results have been fantastic and my fledgling company has enjoyed over £750,000 of new business enquiries over a 8 month period. I now have a team of five people and we are booked out for at least 6 months in advance” said Ben Neal, Managing Director, Neal Construction.
Loyal to our family roots
MultiWebMarketing™ was set up specifically as a legacy business with a family ethos at its core. Following in the footsteps of Managing Director Paul Smith is Deputy Managing Director Lewis Smith, who has been involved since the launch but took on his full-time role in 2020. He said: “Of course, it gives you immense pride to work for the family business. Who doesn’t want to build a growing business with the family but it also gives our clients reassurance that we are in it for the right reasons and have a level of care and respect for what we do.”
Investing in young, local talent
Big cities like London, Manchester and Leeds are typically the hotbed for tech-savvy marketing agencies, but MultiWebMarketing™ was keen to break the mould. Based just outside Doncaster, we pride ourselves on creating employment opportunities locally. Leading and helping to develop an exciting team gives daily nourishment to the management. The business has hired 11 apprentices in its history, with more than 50 per cent of the current employee headcount being apprentices or former apprentices. It is important to invest in skills for young people locally. Graphic Design Lead Kieran Bates is a fine example of this, joining the business almost at the start. He said: “Jokingly, I always say I’m not allowed to leave, but it’s been a really great place to work. The training is ongoing, and our teams are given time on a Friday to dedicate to personal development.”
Being ahead of the curve with innovative technology
There’s a pressure working in the marketing and technology space to keep pushing the boundaries with what’s possible and to help clients to meet their customers where they are. That’s why, throughout our journey as a business, we have kept introducing new ways of working. We have wholeheartedly embraced new social media platforms with our team of experts. We have been pioneers of eBooks and multi-shop eComm software and are currently investing lots of our time and efforts in voice SEO. Evolving our office environment to maximise creativity
A big part of our world is building a positive workplace culture. This is more than words – it’s an investment in the best and latest IT as well as an office environment that appeals to our young workforce. As well as computers, you’ll find a table football game, exercise bikes, an arcade machine and a Starbucks coffee hub. It is a reward for hard work but also allows downtime so creativity doesn’t dry up.
Continuing to grow
To attract and retain the best talent into the business, a keen eye must be kept on offering opportunities for career growth. We want our employees to feel they can develop and evolve with the business and don’t have to move on to fulfil their professional potential. Operations Director Adrian Blatherwick is living proof of this, having joined the business as a part-time junior web developer and now sits on the board of directors. “There is a culture that if you show willing and present yourself, there is always an opportunity to develop,” explained Adrian. “We love to have a homegrown team and always encourage personal development.”
Championing culture
You’ve seen this word ‘culture’ a few times, but it’s something that is really important here. It might sound cheesy, but we want people to enjoy coming to work. That’s why no one is allowed to stay in the office past 5pm. We are huge advocates of promoting a healthy work and home life balance.
Outcomes over outputs
Our results really are what set us apart from other agencies in our industry. This is how we can truly deliver a return on investment to our clients by using our work to generate business for them. This is what we take our greatest pleasure from. One of our clients, LJ’s Boutique, has developed from a business generating £100,000 to £2.5 million in three years. Playing a small part in this fills us with immense pride. Managing Director Leesa Sharpe said: “I could immediately see their expertise when it came to marketing and an ability to help scale up my business. They helped me to redesign my entire website and have given the business a massive boost to take us to the next level.”
Making a genuine difference to local charities
Our teams have raised tens of thousands of pounds for charities over the years. This is from direct fundraising activities and also by offering marketing support to chosen charities. Those we work with are not randomly chosen but carefully considered based on causes close to the hearts of our people and based on the work they do every day. Over the past year, we have supported Paces specialist services in Sheffield for the work they do to support children and young adults with cerebral palsy and other motor disorders by delivering marketing services to the value of £25,000 free of charge.
